if compare slim jb vs cm vs stock ics, which one is smoother?

I feel stock is faster. CM also quite fast. None of the aftermarket JB roms I tried is satisfactory so far.

I should have bought a nexus phone.

Btw if I root my Note to stock, will I have a default app that behaves like S note where I can use my stylus for handwritten notes?

Guys I have been experiencing poor battery life and slower response ever since JB upgrade. I'm a total noob I never root my note since I bought it like 2 years ago? I tried factory reset but no improvement. So I wanna learn how to root, but there are so many options can someone point to me a single path/link? I wanna improve battery life, performance and delete useless apps.

Totally understand your dilemma, as I was in the same position before.

I am now running Ultimate Rom with SpeedMod Kernel.

Same Samsung JB experience minus the lag. Really fast and smooth.
Improvised Multi-Window works for all apps instead of only selected stock apps.

Yes. But a caveat: last time I used stock was half a year ago.
Have tried a few ROMs recently. My experience is:
JellyBeer 4.20 - quite stable and configurable, except a little bit lacking in responsiveness, not sure if it is because I changed the dpi to make everything smaller.
CM 10.1 nightly - very fast and smooth but not totally stable.
Ultimate ROM v6 - speed ok a bit slower than CM. Least stable, have hang and rebooted twice in 2 days.

Please take note after you flash a ROM you gotta give it some time to settle down with all the media scanning etc. Otherwise you may think it drains battery a lot and is slow.

Just bought a new battery, Anker 2700mAh from amazon. Now using with Asylum (CM10.1) + NX Kernel 1.3.4, with the kernel settings recommended by the dev. Battery drain is pretty good, with battery dropping about 0.5% per hour on standby, while it varies while in use

Jumped to Asylum because even though its pretty smooth on stock JB/TW JB ROM + speedmod, loading/switching my apps especially whatsapp take pretty long time (about 2-3 seconds to bring up the whatsapp window). After i switch to asylum, there is still loading time, but its a significant decrease, maybe up to 1 second or less.
