Unless you still have warranty, I would go to a trustworthy shop outside.

If she has auto synced her contacts and calendar stuff to her google acc, she will be able to restore later. Or saving her contacts to sim card will do too. If not i don't think able to retrieve, if the phone has to go through a factory reset.

You try booting into download mode by holding Power button+Volume down until the screen appears. Then press Volume up. If can access, means is phone software issue can fix. If cannot, it may be serious.

mine is the same ... :( first time still under warranty and motherboard replaced. second time happen again but out of warranty.

Outside repair cost around $130 - $180, I didn't choose to repair it though...

I did back up the contact for her to Google but can't find any contact
when I switch to my old S3 LTE.
Only Apps, setting & data were restored but not contact..:s11:

Did you make sure you are logged in to your wife's account?

Try going to contacts and try looking under accounts to make sure google is selected.

Did you try entering download mode on the faulty phone?

That means most likely you didn't backup your google contacts properly. If the contacts were not backed up to sim card, there should be no way to retrieve them.

You mean when you press power button and volume down together, nothing shows up on screen?

Like that could be a hardware problem. Just send it to a trustworthy shop outside then. Or get a xiaomi phone. :)

If your wife has been syncing her contacts regularly or automatically, the contact info would be found in the contacts section of her Gmail account. She might want to login to Gmail via a PC/notebook to check.

Had the same issue, if I watch youtube and did not exit out of the program and the phone goes to standby mode the screen turns black and hibernate, it will not respond to any button press. To restore you have to hold the power button for about 20sec then the phone will reboot. This happened after upgrade to the latest firmware 4.3. I have since trade in the phone before its permanently dead.
