SD card Enquiry

Intending to purchase a 64gb Sandisk extreme for the Gopro hero 4 sliver.

Was wondering would it be better to purchase 2*32gb instead?
i.e. diversifying the risk of losing the entire camera along with the 64gb sd card, faster write speed?

Do advise.

it is advisable to carry multiple smaller capacity cards say 4 x 16Gb cards or 2 x 32 Gb cards which is better than 1 x 64Gb card.

the probability of "all four cards fail" is lower than "1 card fail".

Smaller and the more the better, SD card sometimes failed to write. Better to be safe than sorry...

better if can get 8 Gb, but I cannot find when I went SLS the other day 2 weeks ago.
The smallest is 16Gb....

I personally take 32GB 2 of them LOL

I got big capacity but that is for video recording usage... haha

You'll need to determine the video length, video mode and advanced settings like Protune.

E.g.
For 4k-15
- estimated battery life is 2h (wifi off)
- using 64GB, average normal recording is 2h 56m.
- for 32GB, the time will be halved i.e. 1h 28m.
- the cam will still have 32m of battery but the SD card is full.

E.g.
For 1080-30
- estimated battery life is 1h 50m (wifi off)
- using 64GB, recording with Protune is 2h 56m.
- for 32GB, the time will be halved i.e. 1h 28m.
- the cam will still have 22m of battery but the SD card is full.

If upgrade to the Battery BacPac™ which increases the battery time to 3h, it maybe a tad bit troublesome to swap 32GB.

I recommend Extreme Pro from Sandisk if you have budget

I find it a hassle to keep changing microsd cards, especially given their tiny size. Prefer to just get one larger one instead of two smaller ones.

I use 128GB for my cameras and 64gb for my 2 go pros. Swapping memory cards is a pain in the ass. Likelihood of failing is v low. Maybe once in a few years. Impt thing is to change new ones every 2 years of heavy usage. Im not too uptight over it

I shoot pictures only, I have four 16Gb SD cards, 1 x 64Gb CF card for backup.

for one event, I would divide up into four segments and change card after 1 segment.

Should 1 SD card fail, I have the CF card as backup. If both cards fail, I lose 1 segment of pictures....
