Serial number on lightning cable

To cut the story short:

Today, my genuine stock USB lightning cable was denied replacement at Singtel technical support at com centre because it didn't bear the serial number on the cable itself (somewhere laser printed within 6 inches away from the USB connector).

Apple was kind enough to offer a replacement cable. But has yet to confirm whether the serial number appeared on every lightning cable or only for later batches. Still, I thank apple for the wonderful customer service! Keep it up!

I'm sharing here to warn all users that if they are buying the new iPhone (at least this applies to singtel.. Not sure about starhub and m1) that comes with a lightning cable, please make sure that there is a laser printed serial number on the USB cable!

Because Singtel iPhone technical support at comcentre says that cables without the serial numbers are fakes!

I have feedback this to Apple, Singtel and Micro2000. Only Singtel, as usual, never kept its promise for a call back. The so called supervisor on duty tonight is Kalai, who was as usual, in a meeting during my call with 1688 cso.

My investigation suggests that the serial number might have appeared on later batches of lightning cables. Still, it's safer to accept a lightning cable with serial number.

Thanks for the information. Anyway, is it true that lightning cables and earpiece have a year warranty and can be exchanged with telco if you bought from them?

To be fair.. Singtel has returned call.. And they say that they will take the feedback seriously.. As usual.. Let's just hope that we won't need to go through the same frustration the next time (touch wood) we need their assistance!

@battledome64: from my understanding, they are able to retrieve your information from your nric number (at least this applies for singtel)

@*adiBOY: I've never used the earpiece.. But it seems like the charger and the cable are covered for 1 year if you are under singtel.

Singtel are now finally taking us seriously huh? :s13:

Oh well.. All the better.. I gave one poor girl from Singapore Marketing dept a piece of my mind this afternoon..

Keep saying that the reduction in data size is after getting feedback and survey with the customers.. But I don't even see the actual survey or feedback from Singtel nor the actual breakdown of the survey results.. Anyway, telcos don't appreciate loyalties from customers from what I could tell.

I have been with Singtel for so many years. I did try Starhub as well as M1. To be fair, in term of response, relatively speaking, Singtel is quite ok. Starhub is the worst. They honored most of the thing they promised me. I used them for my company as well. However, their plan is getting more expensive, I personally as well my company spent a lot of money per month on their service. in term their 3G or LTE, nothing to shout about. And now, I don't think they bother royalties anymore. I can only remember they reducing the multiline discount, increase the price plan for their highest plan etc, persuing me to get their useless MIO TV package with useless channel..etc.

So to me, all the telco are all the same, they will try way to maximize their profit. Now I day, I treat them like SLS shops, pick the item I want, go for the cheapest shop, pay and go. If same price, go for the better shop in term of service or who can give you bundle discount. The product probably all about the same. Don't be silly to think that you alway buy there or pay more, you will get exceptionally good offer or treatment. Now, my company is going to switch to M1 package. Personally, I am halfway through jumping to Starhub. (3 lines already changed to Starhub). I still can call, can surf and still face some problem like Singtel lines that certain areas and timing, the mobile data will be very slow. The service hotline in starhub is lousier as compared with Singtel or M1, but i dont talk to them everyday. But ultimately I save a lot per month.

Wow that's an oxymoron, thumbs up to you. No consumers would tell Telcos to have their data capacity reduced, she must smoking crack at the end of the line.

P.S Check all my three cables - 2 bought from Epic, none of them has a serial number :(

On a side note,

I have a piece of lightning cable, someone give me. How can I go about exchange for new one? I'm currently M1, but based on the comments I read, they can trace where was it purchase?

Also, the exchange cable is new or refurbish?

Ah....Finally found it on the iPhone 5S cable, its lighter grey than iPhone 5 cable. iPhone 5 cable serial easier to spot. See until :s22::s22:
