Setting up a biometric and door access server

To moderators:
I know this is rather off topic but I need in setting up a biometric and door access server.
Anyone got advice?
I'm thinking at either a thin client or low power pc than
the software part I will ask the vendor to do it since
they are providing the software but not the machine.
