Shinjuku area

Hi folks

1st trip to Japan. Planning to stay at Shinjuku area in Nov for easy access to highway bus station in the early morning. Understand that the area is near to red light district and touts, hence seeking recommendation for a safe hotel.

sunroute plaza and washington are two of the popular choices. both are not near kabuki-cho which is another side of shinjuku (nishi i think?).

This hotel is very close to everything you will ever need. Cheap and clean.

This hotel is a little further out from the JR lines, but it is 1 minute walk from one of the an excellent udon restaurant that locals like.

For any hotel, just be sure to book a non smoking room. Most hotel rooms at your budget are small, but you will not need bigger ones anyway since you will be out for most of the day.
