As exercise means different things to different persons, the benefits of Oxigeno are not readily evident. It is not my intent to sell anyone or sell a product or service with what I am about to say. It's to share my stretch experience with anyone interested.
My heartbeat was quicker than ever after taking OXGINO trial class @heartbeat, Bedok Community Club. My usual ten-kilometer bike ride seemed to be much less strenuous. That was my 70-year-old body's discovery about just the benefits of stretching versus not stretching. Over the course of the classes, I noticed a change in myself more.
Likewise, I noticed my failure at balancing my body with the left foot despite walking normally. It indicated old injuries caused by falls during my bicycle rides and weaknesses of the relevant muscles and tendons, namely the calf, the thigh, the pelvic, and the ankle. Ointment and massage on old foot injuries were helpful, making it more stable and stronger than before.
Related to cycling was the pain at the left knee cap, and that later was corrected by ensuring knees kept close to shoulder width during cycling to prevent them from swinging too far out. With less friction to the knee joint, the risk of pain was avoided.
Stiff ankle meant not able to fully perform the squatting and forward bending exercises. A difficult exercise was forward bending down with both hands stretched out as far as possible to touch the floor. It meant more stretching required of the muscles and tendons of the calf, thigh, pelvic, and ankle to improve mobility and flexibility.
I also found myself less tiring in using the computer and sitting for extended hours. This was probably the result of breathing and stretches to the chest, abdomen, and shoulders. The pain or pressure around the sternum (center of the chest cage) disappeared. Bad posture and slothing in a round-back chair caused the problem. The realization came from well-known doctors, and physical trainers, and chiropractors on YouTube.
A year earlier, I had a left wrist fracture that had my hand in a cast for almost a year. Frozen left shoulder, along with carpal tunnel syndrome because of poor circulation made the matter worse. The stretches improve my circulation (blood) so much that I do away with the blanket as my warm feet keep cramps away. Thus, visits to the specialist became less demanding.
I believe more working adults may want to spend a little of their time at the studio for workouts. Although the one-hour session once a week is not too demanding, traveling from Bukit Panjang to Bedok took up more time than the class itself.
As a suggestion, having classes year-round (four-month interval) at other venues such as CCK stadium or another suitable gym may open up greater interest for the sport. Attendees may need to book for the class in advance and may facilitate the organizer in their scheduling.
