Should I ask Singtel staff to change GPON ONR to ONT setting?

I have Singtel technicians coming tmr as am upgrading my currently 1 gbps plan to 2 gbps plan. But it will replace the my current old ZTR ONT with the new ONR. I plan to get a dedicated 3rd party router in future. Should I try my luck to get them to set up the new ONR as ONT as am seeing alot of people saying about double NAT trouble.

No point, they will not do it for you since Singtel does not entertain ONR bridging request any more. Even when they supported ONR bridging request last time (before March 2022), they do not support 2Gbps plan bridging either -- only for 1Gbps plan. The 1+1 Gamer bundle plan comes with the ONR bridged already (Port 4 to connect to the bundled RT-AX86U router) but the plan is no longer available now.

Depending on your use cases, Double NAT may or may not be an issue for you.

But if you want to tey, depending on the ONR model, you can try to bridging by yourself. YMMV. Last resort will be to use a GPON ONU to replace the Singtel ONR if you cannot bridge the ONR.

I believe in the terms of your 2Gbps contract, it is stated that ONR is provided, and they will not provide / entertain bridging, at least that is the case for my 5Gbps plan.

You can try, but i would not bother, as the installer most probably will not even know what you are asking. When i asked mine (very nicely), he asked "What is bridging? Please call 1688."

His job practically is:
Connect the ONR
Connect the SingTel supplied router, if any to the ONR.
Run Speedtest on the router web interface and show you the result.
He will not even touch your own equipment like any third party router and he clearly told me so.
For mine, he helped me connect the UTP cables to my devices, but told me clearly if there are any issues, to call 1688, as his job is merely to install the ONR and SingTel router.
He was nice enough to show me how to connect to the WiFi SID with the password 😅

For me and Xiaofan, we took the risk and did the bridging ourselves.

contact helpdesk. they need to submit approval but most likely approved. i just did mine on the cheapest 2gb plan. but the only catch is the onr max speed is 1GB, if you want faster to one port need to get sfp+

Hmm, so you get one port of the SingTel ONR bridged, official done by SingTle? That is news.

As per the previous reports, Singtel no longer entertains bridging of ONR since early 2023.

If you want to get higher than 1Gbps connection, you can use Dual WAN Load Balancing (no matter bridged or not bridged).

Some users also managed to replace the Singtel GPON ONR for 2Gbps plan with an ONU with 2.5G LAN port.
