Hi peeps! Hoping for some advice right now. Here is my current situation.

I enlisted in Sep 2013 and now is in SCS training as a Spec (Foundation term ending soon in bout 2 weeks time). Having the intention to sign on as either CBRD (those dealing with biological threats) or Military Intelligence. Any one who been through these vocation or as a regular have any advice for me?

Thinking more towards CBRD but see their training quite siong. As in need wear the suit and mask for acclimatisation and my physical fitness quite cui, barely getting Silver for IPPT. Military intel on the other hand more desk-bound office work but may get quite boring IMO?

Both have not so bad starting pay.
CBRD: $3000 (with risk pay)
MI: $2600

Should i sign on as a regular? Thinking if i really take the plunge, i will just finish the minimum serving years and zhao liao. Or should i forgo signing on and continue to study or work? Btw i have a Diploma in Applied Chemistry from SP.

So can anyone give me some advice on which route should i take? Sign or dont sign?? People say only sign on as an officer (better pay and more respect from men) or is there any short term contract like a year or 2 instead of what i intend to sign for (min: 6 years) :s11::s11: Very confused now about my future... Any help is much appreciated!

Are you going to find a job related to your previous vocation if you are planning to leave after your 6 years?

If yes, better don't sign on as there isn't many job out related to what you are signing on.

The starting pay is attractive but the pay increase is pathetic as time goes. The highest you can go is only 1SG for 6 years contract.

Many regular also said that you must have alot of passion for your work or else you will just be dragging your feet everyday to work. There are no OT pay and are required to work more than 12 hours on given days and even during weekends.

got the thought of studying for a degree if i leave after serving the mimimal contract and then looking for a job thereafter. Anyways any idea of how much a 1SG will likely earn per month?

Not more than $600 increment from your starting pay.

Trust me, you will regret signing on if you sign on only for the money.

You really need to consider whether is it a passion or is it for money? If it is for money I can tell you, you can't survive in there for long. And what are the plans if you cannot survive in there anymore and decided to quit?

You can't just sign as a cbrd regular , you have to go through the selection for a cbr spec . Anyway cbr spec is very shiong , you need to go through jcc after you sign on . Plus there's 24h standby if your coy is the ops coy and you will need to burn hell lot of weekends .
