Hello, I'm looking to graduate in a couple of months time from Murdoch University. By then I will be 26 based on calendar year.

I'm interested to sign on with the forces. Would like to seek some advices.

1: Is 26 too old for a female to enlist aiming to go into OCS?

2: Is Murdoch university recognised? I heard there is a pay difference.

3: Army or airforce UAV, AWO (C3)? Physically fit.

4: Should I submit my application now or upon graduation? I did went into the online application page however they indicated to only list down completed courses unless it's full time.

5: Other advices greatly appreciated!

Thank you v much!

1) "too old" as in whether there's an age restriction or whether "too old" physically and mentally?

2) check with them, they will be able to advise you better.

3) What's the reason you want to sign on to begin with given that you don't even know what you want?

4) Why don't you just submit now and list down whatever you have done.

The most important factor is, you must enjoy army life. SAF is a big umbrella, that allows regulars to change their appointment every 2 years. you could be an OC today, the next thing you know you are working in a manpower office 2 years later. You will find a role in there that will fits you eventually. So it boils down to whether you can get use to doing DO duties, handling your men, etc.... I suggest talking to AFEW(not just one) friends who have served NS about life in the SAF before signing on as a regular. I am not a regular, but you can PM me if you have further questions :)

Cheers

2: I did, but they say they will not be able to tell me. I also heard that they won't tell you until you sign on that dotted line. My dip is also private. So I heard that it may mean I'm not even be qualified for OCS. They won't recognise both and only look at my o'levels. Is it true?

3: Felt that should people spent more time on people around them certain tragedy could have been prevented. Don't want to wake up being oriented around profit driven organisations.

4: I did, but I do need to know if my papers are qualified and I'll have a fair shot thereafter. Physics, mentality etc can be build upon when you set your heart to it. But qualifications is different. If they don't, you'll be locked out.

That's my concern.

Haha. I can't PM till I have min 10 post. But yes, I particularly like how it is people orientated. Nevertheless, there are many telling me all those posters, videos that I've seen are not "real". And it's very different inside.

Most imptly right now to me I guess is figuring out if my qualifications meet the mark but there's no information available anywhere. Even heading down directly to cmpb, they refuse to release info as well.

1) well it's about whether you think you are mentally preparers to start from scratch, also physicality is on you whether you have been training. 26 is probably like the peak of a person fitness? If got train

2) eh, if u apply and they accept you, u will know by then whether your degree is recognised right?

3) huh?

4) you never try you never know

you have to apply for something before they can accept or reject what. you apply for jobs also have very specific responsibilities and requirements right. if random ppl go hr ask if their degree is recognised, how is hr supposed to answer?

you don't even know what you want, how would they be able to assess you?

i.e. you apply for army officer, they'll give you interview by army ppl + medical + internal assessment, then tell you career path of army officer, then offer letter. you think for a while before signing. or they can dun even give interview straight away reject letter.

you have to apply for a specific vocation 1st before anything, before you start blaming others.

26 is acceptable. there's the pioneer tv female bmt episode, oldest girl was 26.

online application is just online application for interest. almost guarantee will get 1st interview for females which is where the paperwork starts, plus sort of a "consultation/counseling" session, cos girls.

I will apply. And I'm not blaming anyone. Because one of my friend was only told his university is not recognised halfway through BMT thus I'm checking to see if anyone knows.

So I should just wait for phonecall/email thereafter right?

Anyway thank you all!
