Which institute will you opt for if you are in your 20s and given a choice between these two:
SUSS or SIM?
I am gathering opinion on a degree programme offered by the 2 institutes. SUSS seems to be more recognised than SIM, especially for the course considered.
The main advantage of studying at SIM would be module exemption. Due to the related diploma studied, only need to study for 8 modules within 8 months to get a degree.
However, it does not have any honours grading and does not seem to be as recognised as the SUSS one as SUSS is recognised as a local uni and fees are subsidised.
For your reference, this is the degree programme:
https://www.sim.edu.sg/degrees-dipl...r-of-communication-professional-communication
Course fee is $17k
For SUSS, it’s a part time course over 3 years. Seems to be more recognised in the government sector if it’s used to apply for jobs in stat board and govt organisations.
https://www.suss.edu.sg/programmes/detail/bachelor-of-communication
Course fee after subsidy is $15k
My advice is to go for the SIM one as it’s a steal to get a degree in 8 months, with fewer modules to study. After some years of not studying, it’s also a good opportunity to find out if you are still able to study.
Would appreciate your expert opinion.
