They don't? A friend that just interviewed at UBS for a graduate position in the Finance(Internal control, audit) division also got asked these qns though. And it's much more closely related to the investment banking division then the finance division so I can't imagine them not asking those.

Hmm... gotta find out more to confirm then.

Compliance and risk mgmt isn't directly under the IB dept in UBS. It is unlikely that IB interviews will ask you to about SWOT, or michael porter, or the BCG Matrix. Unless you get selected for all those positions pertaining to corporate strategy or research. In that case, you are zai, and you should already know all these. SIM-UOL grad - I'm being very honest here - unless you damn zai, very unlikely you will go for such interviews. If you have to do SWOT analysis during your work, most likely the firm have a certain format to present and guidelines to follow, which your seniors did, and you have to follow it. Very standard stuff.

Personally, I recommend ppl taking VSA and load up on accounting modules. Those are the most practical modules available in UOL if you really wanna learn something useful to bring out into the working world as a finance grad. For answering qns during finance interview, VSA is the way to go. These are just my opinion.

After graduating last yr as a BnF grad, as much as I don't adore it, I deal with accounting standards and accounting very often. Out of the interviews I went to, I have to talk about, or answer qns, or do a valuation model. Once again, this is just me, may not be the same case for others.

IMO, take those modules that are either useful or pique your interest the most, not those "easy" modules which are not practical. You will never finish studying, might as well gain the most out of it or enjoy it.

Peace out!

Hi Seniors in this thread,

I am a student who wishes to enroll in the B&F course for 2017's intake and would like to seek for tips and pointers from any kind-hearted seniors...

What are the recommended pathways for career etc? If open, would like to ask out for coffee etc to find out more?

There will only be 2 lecturer.. use to have 1 only.. my teacher is mr mok..

U have to copy his notes during class so u won't have time to listen.. I would advise u to listen and take pictures after words.. go home copy..

Vsa is some theory and calculation.. tons of formula... I need good poa background cos need to make adjustments to balance sheet( vsa call it reformulate) den use certain formula to calculate intrinsic value ( ae model) den forecast by using simple forecasting..

Behind is theory like technical analysis and fundamental analysis.. if u have experience in stock market and investing.. it would be good..

I have weak poa background since I took it at year 1 and vsa at year 3

Hi can anyone advice on VSA?

Hi.. I just received my result last week.. managed to squeeze out 2nd upper.. my result for year 2 and year 1 was not great.. only 1 B.. quite hard to get 2nd upper..

Year 1

Intro to Econ
Stat
Math 1
Pbf

Year 2
Cf
IM
Intro to info system
Macro ( failed)

Year 3
Macro
Msm
Ebiz
FI
Vsa

3rd year manage to squeeze out 3 B so just nice hit the 2nd upper condition... I got B for my cf during year 2 too...

U can ask me any question here..

Btw cf and im is somewhat linked..

Year 3 I took some of the easier module to push up my grade.. that's my strategy
