Yes, the little red dot has 5 telecommunication carriers. As a customer myself, sometimes I do find things very fluff and confusing, especially with all the jargon and superfluous numbers being thrown all around.

Don’t worry, I am here to simplify all that for you, so you don’t end up signing a 2-year contract full of regret.

First, let’s take a look at the buffet offered to you. Note that I have chosen the “2nd-tier” plan as that’s the most “general” plan for most people.

As you can see, there isn’t much “differentiation” between the Big 3… The only thing that stands out is that SingTel offers 1GB less than that of others.

WIN: M1.

But wait, what if you are a student?

Without a shadow of a doubt, StarHub offers the best value for money.

WIN: StarHub.

Now here’s the category where things get contentious.

Across the 4, all look pretty decent, except for SingTel. StarHub just loses out to M1 by a hair. Between M1 and Circles, M1 appears to have better value.

WIN: M1? Nope.
Circles.Life because 20for20 is just too good.

Overall, if you’re on a contract, StarHub is the best choice. If you’re not, then Circles.Life is the obvious choice.

FIBRE

The same goes for broadband. I’m choosing the most “general” plan, the one that offers 1Gbps.

Across them all, M1 is the cheapest, but SingTel offers great value despite its higher price. Still, so long as you don’t choose MyRepublic, you’re good to go.

WIN: SingTel.

Overall, there doesn’t seem to be much competition with regards to the fibre game. With that said, if you and your family have a bundle package (i.e. mobile + fibre + TV), that’s the best choice to settle for at the moment. You’re NOT going to be better off by mixing and matching the best of each category.

For Fibre internet, your analysis is not detailed enough. You have not included the fact that for Singtel fibre, u nid to sign their 3 services( Fibre+miotv+ phone line) to enjoy savings off monthly HP line subscriptions.

If you are keen on cable TV, i suggest that you stick with starhub cable TV as they have the best selection of channels of all. Bundled with fibre internet the costs works out to be roughly the same.

As for me, my family do not watch cable TV anymore, so all will be migrating to M1 Fibre to enjoy cost savings.:s13:

I think he's basing it on monthly price which MyRepublic is the highest in his chart.

It's not a very complete look at the ISPs and there are another 3 more players at least which aren't as common as the 4 listed.

WhizComm, SuperInternet and ViewQwest.

Another consideration for most consumers might be traffic shaping for the torrent users and mandatory proxy server (either transparent or explicit) for those who want to watch streaming videos from region restricted services.

TS is biased in the report.
The singtel pricing is for re-contract and existing customer.
For new customer it is $59.90
As for free x months subscriptions it is applicable to others too.
And the price may not include TV subscription and others charges.

Fibre charges will depend on each contract and promotion.
As some did complained having to pay $200+ for end of contract termination which is not mentioned clearly in the sign-up.:D:(:s22:

Agreed. TS is very BIASED in the report. I have used Singtel and M1 simultaneously. M1 firstly has awful phone pricing when buying with contract. Sometimes even $50 more expensive than other other telcos. Then when it comes to phone trade-ins, the price of the phone a lot lower than what other telcos also offer. So in the end, you end up paying $100 more than with other telcos. I ended up changing my second line back to Singtel afterwards. Best trade-in prices most of the time and the price for when you use services like Samsung Concierge, you can see the amount they'll pay for when you want to re-contract every year means you won't even have to pay the penalty for early recontract at all. So just concentrate on paying for the phone itself.

No experience with Starhub anymore. So I won't comment on them.
So telco's very simplistic mindset without even taking into account of future upgrades and recontracts makes me say he is way too biased. Some more, first post only. Cannot even trust at all.

As for FIBRE, never ever take Starhub as they do not care about gamers. Their DNS routing is so bad that while players on Singtel, ViewQwest and MyRepublic are on 50-59ms, Starhub players were getting 130+ms ping on Blizzard servers. So we should treat Starhub the same way they treat their customers. Avoid completely.
