Today just noticed that new line signed with SingTel will have $500 12mth recontract fee instead of the usual $350. Thus even tho I have it as Key Line under SingTel Circle I have to pay $150. Anyone think contradict with their advertisement as free handset upgrade annually? :s13::s13:

Means if I recontract my keyline this year, after this year I still need to top up $150 on top of early recontract. Not really considered free annual handset upgrade, more of discounted upgrade..

Do they not give a voucher to offset it if you are entitled annually?

They didn't, just straight away show me on the 12th month they will charge a fee of $150. Plans that are before Sept 2019 is shown $0.

That is how I found that the new 12th month penalty for handset upgrade becomes $500 instead of initial $350.

SingTel smart, SingTel circle put annual handset fee upgrade fee waiver or get new phone annually but bracket it (worth $350)

Yup you are right if your key line is signed after 17th Sept 2019.

I just sign a line yesterday so i thought i can make it Key Line in order for me to recontract for me in Jan 2021 but saw that $150.

My previous key line will be $0 as usual but because I'm gg to downgrade the plan I didn't recontract in 2019 and wait for 24th month in 2020. That is why I plan to switch my Key Line to the new line signed yesterday.

After I recontract with it I will switch my Key Line again back to the old line.

TBH I'm not sure if this is a loophole to be exploit so that you can keep on getting the annual fee waiver. This is not my intention if they didn't increase the fee

I am also on SingTel Circle since Sept 2013. Just wondering what that S$150 in the screenshot means exactly. I saw that too but I think it is meant for early recontract . But then you can recontract every year. The S$350 worth part has always been there.

My last recontract was in Dec 2019 and I plan to get a new phone in Dec 2020 as usual. (Edit: should be Jan 2020 and Jan 2021 respectively).

But you can see that there is no S$500 mentioned in my screenshot and your screenshot, unlike the following mentioned by amazingone.

Even for the above screenshot, my interpretation is still that it is just normal thingy with regards to two year contract.

So let's just wait and see.

Edit to add:
Ah, my bad, now I see the problem is that they changed the Singtel Circle benefits. Now it is explicitly mentioned the upgrade fee is S$500 and the fee waiver is S$350, which means there is still a S$150 to pay. That is bad and cut into the main benefit of SingTel circle members, which is the free device upgrade evey year.

Annual Handset Upgrade Fee Waiver
Enjoy a yearly early recontract fee waiver of $350 off the upgrade device fee of $500.

SingTel CIS plan customers are also complaining. Looks like the trend is to get SIM only plan then.

Still I will just wait and see in Jan 2021 when recontract (annual upgrade). I am using nonrmal Combo 2 and Data x 3.

with the increased terms & conditions for contracted plans, together with a reduction in CIS discounts, it no longer makes sense to have such contracts..

frankly, we should now consider SIM only plans and source for phones outside

aside from that, even the singtel circle is only giving $350 upgrade handset voucher whereas the fee to upgrade after a year is $500..

Yeah. The trend now is towards getting SIM only plan, cheaper and with more data.

Unless your company is paying for your bills, then sim only plan will be good

Previously I have calculated that SIM only and my current SingTel Circle cost to be similar if I keep buying new phones every year (one iPhone and one mid range Android phone alternatively). And yet I get some other SingTel Circle benefits.

With this new change it is leaning towards SIM only in the future. I have already converted one of the two Combo 2 lines to Singtel SIM only last December.

I will wait for January 2021 to see which way to go for the remaining Combo 2 line (with Data x 3 add-on) -- to get a new phone and continue with the Combo 2 plan, or skip the phone and then wait for Jan 2022 to convert to SIM only plan. It will depend on the subsidy I get from the phone -- most like a variant of iPhone 12 for my wife.

Combo 3 Singtel circles data X3, still paying for caller ID.
Been buying new iPhone every Dec, and then Nov cycle.

Glad i stopped in Nov 2019, so my contract expires Nov 2020. Finally waited until can terminate.

Just signed up for giga $18 pop up plan. Port to giga as soon as contract ends. Like 15 or more years with Singtel mobile.. bye bye.

yes, i still stand by what i said as quoted by somebody else here..

the corporate discounts just don’t make sense anymore, but it could just be singtel

M1’s CIS plan @ $85 after discount allows me to get Note 20 Ultra at $219 so i thought that’s cool
