Hey guys. I need some advise. My GPA isnt that good to enter SIT. I am very interested to continue my studies though after NS. I have been rejected by them last year. I am interested in engineering (mechanical or civil).
To get accepted, should I:
1. Work for 1-2 years and apply again (I've heard of people getting accepted with a gpa of 2.5 and 2 years of work experience getting into SIT)
2. Take up more courses online or take a specialist diploma? (I'm not sure if thus will increase my chances of getting accepted though..)
3. Give up and go to a private university like PSB?
Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated! I know i messed up during my poly days fooling around and not thinking about my future. Overseas studies is probably not an option for me. No $$$
For point 2, local universities do not take 'extra diploma' like specialist diploma for additional consideration. So don't waste time on it.
With your result, I strongly doubt you can enter full time education in local universities. Have you think of getting part time degree courses in NTU & NUS (since I am not sure if there were be part time degree courses in SIT)? Due to oversupply of local university graduates, employers are not that keen to hire distance learning graduates these days. Even if they hire distance learning graduates, you will see a different in wages.
Point noted for option 2... i really dont mind doing part time but are the requirements the same for full time or is it more flexible? How many years of working experience is usually needed?
