Hey guys!

Currently got offered a place in SIT hospitality business , so i am thinking should i go for SIT which is considered a government uni OR go the SIM- RMIT to study business management or business marketing. Reason being;

SIT business program is more specialized into the hospitality industry, which i am worried if i study this i can only work in this industry (not keen on working on weekends).

Hence the other alternative is SIM-RMIT, as it offers me a more general business degree where i might have more industries to choose from when im going to work.

However! SIT has a better "paper value" as a government uni and i might be able to work in the civil sector and what i learn i may be able to apply it into other industry also. For SIM-RMIT i "heard" it is not really recognized.

*Comparing the modules in SIT(3 years course) i will learn more than in RMIT-SIM (2 years).

1)Do you guys think if i study the SIT hospitality business course i can only go into that industry when i graduate? Or can i apply what i learnt into other industry?

2) Lets say after graduating,i apply for a job in a non-hospitality industry, do you think most employers would prefer the SIT hospitality business degree which is a Gov uni degree(but specializes in the hospitality industry)

OR

A RMIT-SIM business management degree which is a more general degree but a private Uni degree?

3)May i know what is the difference between graduating with a honors degree and graduating without one? The SIT hospitality business degree is a honors program while the business management degree from RMIT-SIM is not.

4) SIT degree OR RMIT-SIM degree would give me a better chance in working for the civil sector? or both the same?

5) So in conclusion i only have two options RMIT-SIM OR SIT, which do you think i should go for ? (based on what i mentioned overall and your views and experiences)

Sorry abit lengthly but hope you can take time out to help me

Thank you very much!

I think you need to consider your learning style too. No point if a particular uni has more paper value than the other but you are unable to cope.

The only input i can give you as a RMIT marketing student is that from what i've heard, the major modules are project based lumped with mid terms and finals.

The module i had so far was structured this way (considering that you mention 2 years as well means you'll be going through the same path as me)

As far as paper value after graduation, i can't really weigh down both uni as I don't really know about SIT course.
