skip training for PMP exam

I plan to take 2013.12 PMP examaination, but it says we need 35 hours of training in Singapore, can we skip the training or give the training agency some money and ask them to provide letter without attending the course( we don't have time to attend the course)?

if it can't be skipped, may I know which training firm is the cheapest for PMP in Singapore.

also where in singapore can we attend the exam?

You do understand that if you want to be a PMP, you're bound by their code of conduct which includes no dishonesty regarding attaining the certification.

The bootcamp is not the only way to earn PDUs for the exam. Go take ITIL Foundation and COBIT Foundation. That'll earn you enough PDUs for the exam, plus 2 professional certifications!

Or, if you're really into PM. Go take PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner. That'll earn you another professional PM certification plus enough PDUs to take PMP.

The bootcamp is not the only way to earn PDUs for the exam. Go take ITIL Foundation and COBIT Foundation. That'll earn you enough PDUs for the exam, plus 2 professional certifications!

Alvin, you mentioned taking ITIL, do you mean the course or just the exam only in order to earn PDU?

Rough guide is 1 hour of activity = 1 PDU. Taking exam alone at most net you 1 PDU since it's 1 hour.

Some providers is 18 PDUs for ITIL Foundation course, some providers is 19.5 PDUs.

So you just need another 15 - 17 more PDUs. Just look for courses that provide PDUs and see if it's enough. 3 day courses will do the trick. Or you can simply participate in PMI's activities that provide PDUs as well.

PRINCE2 price differs among providers. Project Management isn't 1 sided. Doesn't mean that getting PMP means you know everything about PM. PRINCE2 is another way of PM. PMBOK and PRINCE2 are not exclusive but works well together.

You can also take MCTS Microsoft Project 2010. Its about 21 PDUs.

ITIL Foundation offers around 18-20 PDUs.

you can take some other courses like Agile/ Lean Six Sigma/ ITIL Intermediate Levels.

I have done this before. CAPM self studied. Failed one. Second attempt pass.
It is ok as CAPM and PMP are similiar just lesser question.
