Hi guys,

I'm thinking of getting another computer and am conflicted as to whether to spend the extra money right now to get a skylake cpu. Wanted a white-black scheme along this line:

Skylake
i5 6600k + Asus Z170-A
H100i for looks
EVGA 980ti classified from amazon
samsung 250 evo SSD
1tb (toshiba?)
G-skill rams DDR4 (white)
Seasonic 650W gold

The alternative is to go haswell and save maybe 100-200 depending on whether I want to get a K processor. Not sure if paying a bit more for a i7-4690k will be better if the primary focus will be on gaming. Read online that skylake processors are bad value right now but not sure if the same applies for local distro prices.

Atm gaming on a 1080p monitor but have plans to go 1440p.

Thanks.

If you want longetivity, should go for socket 2011 platform. They are meant to last longer than mainstream platforms.

What's your total budget for everything?

Any physical constraint for chassis?

I'm okay with up to 2-2.5k if need be, buit not sur eif i should wait a few more months. Skylake prices are at a premium now over haswell so not sure if i should buy now...

Future-proofing

Whao, have not heard this word since the days of Intel/AMD wars.

Anyway, the performance ratio of Skylake ain't really that much compared to Haswell.

Just get whatever you can afford. But if you fear the buyer's guilt sometime down the line, just get Skylake.

Wrong theory.
No need Architecture change since Sandy Bridge and AMD GCN GPU.
Need to wait for new Architecture optimized for Directx12.
