I was thinking of sliding window for my new place, but my experience at the current rental place made me think twice.

Would like to check on other people's experience on sliding windows.

The sliding windows at my rental place would rattle, is it the same for all sliding windows? or because the rental place is old?
And how is the noise blocking? It does not need to be sound isolation, but seems to be letting in more noise as compared to casement windows?

Any regrets using sliding windows?

TIA

Before i like sliding windows
But now i prefer casement windoes
Why?
I think casement type..
Got more air and light
And they are more stable in construction

My records

1st house : casement : more cosy
2nd house : sliding : less direct sunlight
3rd house : sliding : less daylight and air
4th house : casement : i replace them from sliding

So you know why now

Have lived in flats with both & i prefer sliding. If its rattling means its super old & probably about to fall out. None of my the flats i’ve lived in with sliding windows had rattling ones.

I find sliding windows a bit harder to clean the outside but when i open all the way & its a windy day, damn shiok.

Casement also can open all lah but wind too strong it keeps slamming so if u close it too much, then no wind coming in. But outside is a bit easier to clean.

IMO casement more likely to fall cos its hanging outside mah. Sliding window unless u slam it so hard that it dislodges, if not less likely to fall.

Either type is fine but my advice is get the type which has top hung windows too. Its more useful than u think.

In my previous place i have to shut all windows when i go out cos im living alone & cant afford for it to rain & my furniture & floor to get wet. Due to no air circulation the air smelt stale plus i noticed there were mold stains on the ceiling. Moisture from using aircon cant escape from room.

In my current place i shut my windows but leave the top hung open. As long as u just open it so the window pane is at 45 degree, even if heavy rain it wouldn’t enter the room. So now my room has good air circulation. Air doesn’t smell stale & no mold stains.
