Hi,

I recently bought an Asus RT-AX58U V2 (AX3000) with the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.388_22525 and I am having issue with loading up the Singtel TV. My internet and wifi are working. My subscription plan is the fiber 1GB plan and it is using ONT. I have configure the Asus router to "Singtel others" and plugged to LAN 4 for the singtel tv.

I have tried changing the isp profile to "Singtel mio" and "Singtel multi STB". Tried manual as well with:
Internet VID 10 PRIO 0
LAN PORT 4 VID 20 PRIO 4
I have also tried LAN port 3 with VID 20 PRIO 4 set as well and connect the Singtel TV to LAN 3. Reboot the ONT, Asus router and Singtel TV and on them in sequence (ONT --> Asus router --> Singtel TV) after every setting change.

Have connected Asus and they check though all the setting as mentioned above. They suggested me to call Singtel and comeback to them if the solution is not resolve.

So I contacted Singtel and they did a backend diagnosis check, suggested the above mentioned setting, reload the system at their end and even sure the green light (LINK) is on at the Singtel TV box. Their solution is to change the ONT to ONR so that the Singtel TV can directly connect to ONR instead of the Asus router. They also agree that there will be drawback in performance if change to ONR. So I think I will keep it as the last resort if there are no solution.

Contacted Asus back and their solution is to bring the router to their service center to get the LAN ports check.

I have tried test all 4 LAN ports to see if there are any internet connect with the ISP profile set to manual:
Internet VID 10 PRIO 0
LAN PORT 4 and LAN PORT 3 leaving them blank. All 4 LAN ports have connection to the internet.

The Singtel tv mode that I am using is Tatung STB-3002 (the model that allow tv recording in HD).

Before I bring the Asus router to the service center, has anyone came across this issue (Singtel TV not load up only) and manage to solve it? Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Maybe TS can consider downgrading your router to ASUS AC5300?
Should be quite cheap now that the AX11000 is a newer model meant to replace the AC5300.

I’m using the AC5300 with my Singtel Mio TV and Singtel Fibre Broadband.

No problems with Singtel ONT and also with 2 Mio TV Set top boxes in my household.

I don't think I can downgrading since I bought the router from lazada but thanks for the suggestion.

Hi all,

I have tried exchanged the RT-AX58U V2, exchanged the singtel tv box, update the router version 1 by 1 starting from the factory version to the latest but the singtel tv still doesn't work. 3 weeks back I have email them and their reply is "our team is still currently investigating this issue".

I recently read about others flashing their Asus router with Merlin in reddit. Should I give it a try to see if it fix this issue?
If so, just to confirm the steps to flash Asus router to Merlin is:
  • Download the zip file from the sourceforge link provided from this website: asuswrt-merlin.net/download
  • unzip the file
  • upload the file through the router's web UI
right?

Is there a chance where the firmware get corrupted after flashing to Merlin and the router become not usable? Is there a way to roll back if this happen?

Thank you in advance.

No need to try as RT-AX58U V2 is not supported by Merlin.

  • RT-AX58U (v2 is not supported)

Ok, Then upgrade your router to AX86U then , sell off the old one on eBay or carousel.

Asus says that the AX86U will work with Singtel ONT

By right RT-AX58U (or any Asus AX routers) will support Singtel TV box, including RT-AX58U V2. I have no ideas why this happened to the TS.

I used RT-AX82U and now use RT-AX86U with Singtel TV box and both are fine. I am using Singtel ONT (ZTE brand) with normal Singtel 1Gbps plan.

As mentioned I think you have done all you can do with the Asus RT-AX58U V2.

Just one more try with the Singtel TV box and your ONT (what is the brand? ZTE or old Ericson or old ALU). You can forget about the Asus for a while, Take out an old Singtel issued router to see if that works or not.

Singtel ONT -- Singtel Issued router (eg: Singtel AC Plus, AC Elite or Singtel Mesh Router) -- Singtel TV Box.

If this does work, then the issue belongs to Asus. If this does not work, then Singtel has to fix your issue first.

Assuming that TS followed all the ASUS instructions especially the VLAN settings , in theory it should work .

I’m equally surprised.

Sorry for the late reply. My ONT brand is ZTE ONT V6. My old Singtel issued router is the Singtel AC Plus. Yup, the Singtel TV is working with your mentioned setup (Singtel ONT -- Singtel AC Plus -- Singtel TV Box).

Last week, Asus support told me to send a feedback through the WebGUI, which I think they want to view the system log file etc. Few days back, they suggested to reset the router and reconfigure it again and follow the FAQ guide on "How to set up RT-AX86U with Singtel (ONT users only)" which I tried and it didn't work. Another suggested method is to check if ASUS router can have a network connection without setting a VID before setting up IPTV and not to set anything in the IPTV if there is network connection. Tried this method and I am not able to connect to internet at all. So I guess this method does not work as well. I have submitted another feedback to them and currently waiting for their reply.

Haha, I guess I should not have bought the model with "V2" name in it. I thought "V2" should be an enhance version or a fixed version from the original model but it seem like it has added more problem for me.

The V1 and V2 are pretty much the same, V1 has a little bit of advantage on the WiFi performance front (BCM43684 is supposed to be a bit better than the built-in one), V2 has faster CPU.
RT-AX58U/RT-AX3000 V2 and RT-AX82U V2 --> new faster CPU BCM6756 (1.7GHz) with built-in WiFi
RT-AX58U/RT-AX3000 V1 and RT-AX82U V1 --> BCM6750 CPU (1.5GHz) + BCM43684

For TUF-AX3000, V2 has another extra advantage that it has 2.5G WAN port.
TUF-AX3000 V2 --> new faster CPU BCM6756 (1.7GHz) with built-in WiFi, 2.5G WAN port
TUF-AX3000 V1 --> BCM6750 CPU (1.5GHz) + BCM43684 WiFi chip

Because of the chipset differences, RT-AX58U V2 is not supported by Merlin FW. And RT-AX82U V2 is not supported by the Merlin gnuton fork.

https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/about (no plan to support RT-AX58U V2 and RT-AX3000 V2 in merlin)
https://github.com/gnuton/asuswrt-merlin.ng/issues/357 (gnuton may support RT-AX82U V2 in the future)

BTW, official Asus FW images contain FW for both V1 and V2. For most users you can consider V1 and V2.

Asus support provided me a beta version to test with the IPTV set to "Singtel Others" and now the Singtel TV is able to receive the channels. I guess there is a software bug under the "Singtel Others" setting and thankfully they are able to resolve it.
