Yes, it's a very compact camera and capable of taking good pictures day and night. I am using the 1st generation one.

If you are on a budget, better to consider the G7x II. While the lens in the Canon may be slightly poorer than that in the Sony, the price difference does matter and not everyone pixel peeps all the time to look for the flaws. Most people cant actually tell whether the lens you used was excellent or just average.
