My extremeMusic soundcard gg to uplorry, got this high pitched sound after a while. Been 9.5 years. Probably my new PC dun like old parts :s22:

Any card in the current market similar to the extrememusic performance? Tried the onboard sound, CMI.

PCI-E x1 card can slot into any PCI slot right, I want to slot into the PCI 1 slot, as I want to create a gap with my graphics card, else too near.

if for gaming and movies, then maybe a sound card. If for music only, get a external DAC.

Erm no, PCI-E cannot fit into PCI, different technology.

And nowadays people buy PCI-E instead because PCI disappearing.

And buy low end soundcard is just getting money cheated. (This forum got one guy buy Xonar DSX and complain still got noise lol). I sell you EMU 0404 PCI for a token sum you want?

Also, if you start hearing sound after 9.5 years, may also be your PSU, since cheap cards don't reject PSU noise well.

I'm not too familiar with what's avail, but my xonar dx seems to do a decent job. and yes, the soundcard will take any pcie slot, I think, had the same question when I upgraded my gfx, and it blocked the original pcie slot my soundcard was supposed to be in.

Looking for a decent one, no need expensive since I am only using Creative T30, $100 budget enough?

Buy from Amazon cheaper? Warranty not important to me, dun think DAC will uplorry so easily.
