Sound Issue with HDMI Connection

I am using an Asus G551JM laptop.

I have an issue with the laptop where it could not play sound (on my external speaker) when connected to my monitor via HDMI connection. Without the HDMI connection, I would be able to play sound on the external speaker while using the laptop screen.

I read somewhere that I would need to make adjustments to the playback device where there is a HDMI option which I could not see.

Would appreciate if anyone could advise on how to get the sound working when connected on the HDMI.

Are you able to perform Test on both via right-click on one at a time with your HDMI connection to your monitor and remove the external speaker?

My AS XG13 is also connected direct to LED TV but I also using the TV audio. I tested both the Samsung (LED TV) and the Speakers (notebook) I got positive test results. I do not have any external speakers to plug in to test though.

One thing is if you want your notebook "Speakers" to be the audio output, you have to set the Speakers as the "Default" audio output device. Have you try that?
