Not sure if this is the right place to ask but i'm at my wits end. :(

So i just got my rig the other day and just yesterday i tried plugging in my headphones to my desktop and got this message with Windows Media Player.

"An audio device was disconnected or reconfigured. Verify that the audio device is connected, and then try to play the item again."

I've went to my playback devices and found 3 devices.
1. DELL S2316H (Nvidia HD Audio) (Comes with built-in speakers)
2. Speakers (Realtek HD Audio) (need to be plugged in)
3. Realtek Digital Output (Realtek HD Audio)

I've searched online and come across several forums saying to plug in my headphones and set the speakers as default.

I tried that method above but still couldn't get it to work. Checked my drivers, tried updating them and all of them are up to date. So i'm lost for what needs to be done. :/

Sorry for the lack of pictures as i can't post links and images. Would have definitely helped if i could post pictures. :/

1) plug in your headphone throuh mobo 3.5mm
2) play music with wmp
3) open playback devices. On the right hand side should see faded green bar. If there is freq change on one of the devices then set that as default.

If all ok now plug in at your front 3.5mm port. If no sound means audio port not connected to your mobo

Yeap, tried it initially but didn't work. However, i restored my computer to an earlier version and now it works. Thanks for the help anyway! :D

UPDATE 1: Monitor speaker suddenly went silent after i set my Realtek HD Audio as the default device.....
BUT, headphones can work now, just monitor speakers not working when headphones were plugged out.

Update 2: As a last resort, tried to restore PC to an earlier version.
Miraculously both audio devices, monitor speakers and headphones are working perfectly fine now.
Probably might have been something i've done to change the configuration unknowingly. All is good now. :D
