Hi guys, I'm currently facing a problem with my soundcard, hopefully I can get some help here.

I have a Soundblaster Zx soundcard and a Asrock B85m Pro4 mobo. The soundcard uses a PCIe x1 slot but as the motherboard does not have x1 slot I initially put it in the first PCIe 3.0 x16 slot since I do not have GPU. The soundcard works fine

Problem now is that I just bought a gpu, so I took the soundcard and put it in the PCIe 2.0 x16 slot below. Now it does not work, it shows up in the device manager but not in the playback devices.

Think PCIe device don't behave like USB. Once that slot is tag to a device, it stays until it is removed. In you case it replacing it with the GPU.

Assuming the GPU is working fine, just reinstall the soundcard drivers and you should be fine.

At least based on my experience with PCIe WiFi adapters, this is the case.

Thanks! Its working now. I did try updating drivers and reinstalling without uninstalling first. Apparently that didn't work, figured it would be the same, apparently not :s13:
