hi .
im currently using the crucial m500 (240gb) now.

if i get a crucial mx100 and plug into my computer will i need to install anything or the computer will auto recognize the drive and i'm able to use immediately?

after that if i clone everything over to my new drive , how do i uninstall the windows7 on it and install on my new drive ? or do i have to install first than uninstall the old one ?

the new drive i would be putting windows7 and game on it only as my current drive the speed is dropping..

Just use cloning software to clone current drive to new SSD. After cloning completed, shutdown and then power up and enter BIOS to select new SSD as boot drive. From there, you can do whatever you want with your M500.

Can i ask is it possible if i want to install windows 7 onto my new SSD ?
How do I remove my current one ?

Because thinking that if win 7 is on the new SSD i just have to re download my games onto it. no need to clone over.

lets say your ssd1 is your original and ssd2 is your new ssd2 newly cloned drive.

go to your bios, select boot priority to ssd2.

when already in ssd2, go to "my computer" and right click on ssd1 drive and format.

with that all your ssd1 data and stuff will be formatted(means all data will be deleted) and it will be good as "new"

make sure you choose the correct drives

thanks !
but i was thinking that ssd2 will only have windows7 on it, as i don't want the ssd to be loaded nearly to the capacity as the speed is dropping.

so if i clone everything over it will be the same.

if i install win7 onto ssd2, possible to remove it from ssd1 ?

If you install a fresh windows on ssd2 with ssd1 mounted and try to use ssd1 programs previously installed, you gonna have some issues(maybe just minor) that won't run properly as they are not in the registry...etc

So you just need to redo everything then. Not sure how to explain to you.

Just write down the programs that are installed ssd2.

Format ssd1(means all data gone)
then maybe u can source out ssd1 as your gaming disk or certain programs.

Then you can split up your space usage on both disk.

Unfortunately this is the most optimal way to do it.

A fresh install will take time but it will last longer(without problems) and the speed will be optimal
