Hi guys, I currently have a ongoing line with starhub. I don't wish to pay anymore and I don't want to terminate because the termination charge is bloody expensive. Starhub sent a pink/red letter to me today. And I was wondering if they will send debt collector and lawyer letter.

Anyone has kena send debt collector and lawyer letter?

Pls advise, please let me know the outcome if you all ignore all notices from starhub.. can lawyer letter send u to court?

Just man up and pay. You did sign the contract and probably enjoyed the "subsidized" phone.

you've entered an legal binding contract with an telco. if everyone does that, then everyone would have purchased a subsidised phone and not pay for the 24 months of monthly subscription.

there is such a thing called telco credit bureau report. if you do not pay, then this will reflect in your bureau report. employers (at least at MNCs such as my company) has begun obtaining credit bureau reports during employment screenings. this is also shared across the telcos to determine the risk factor for new service sign-ups

if you have concern about keeping the records clean slate or have problems paying, talk to both the telco/debt collection firm and strike up some form of instalment agreement. otherwise, you may want to pay off the outstanding and find a buyer for the remainder of the contract. good luck.

You are going to get sued until pants drop, and the courts will compel you to pay what you owe PLUS FEES AND INTEREST.

If you have any grams of intelligence left in your brain, you will realize that it's better to pay up what you owe as soon as possible.

Or you can try to ask us what happens if you ignore court orders.

Can’t agree more with what everyone said. You made the decision and signed the legal contract, either you terminate and pay the fees or you face the consequences of your choices.

Who knows, maybe (just maybe) Starhub will write off sometime in the future, but come on man - face and own up to your decision. Jeez man.

Why get into legal trouble over a phone bill. They'll send a in house letter to your house, but most likely not sue. Those legal debt collector is real, cos debt collector will offer to work for a fraction of recovered amount, so the more you delay, the higher the interest owed, they more inclined to offer to take your debt recovery contract.
