Currently still using the 100plus gb SSD but only left with 30+ Gb
Only installed windows and dota 2 in it .
Will it be sufficient to last if i dont intend to install anything else on it and will it affect the performance , like slow down the system ?

Intending to purchase 500gb ssd but think of getting a new window and reinstall everything seems very ma fan.

win+dota2 shouldn't take up more than 50gb of your ssd.

"Conclusion
The over-provisioned capacity of NAND flash memory creates the space the flash storage processor needs to manage the flash memory more intelligently and effectively. As shown by these test results, higher percentages of over-provisioning improve both write performance and write amplification. Higher percentages of over-provisioning can also improve the endurance of flash memory and enable more robust forms of data protection beyond basic error correction."

You delete all the system restore points except the latest?

thanks for the reply, this is what i don't understand as well,
i tried the disk cleanup and uninstalled program in control panel, it shows total installed program size 22.8gb only but my local disk show 79.7GB used

read the link, use WinDirStat to find out exactly what is using space on your ssd.

Check if you have Win 10 Build 1709 installed

That **** takes up 40gb of space which you cannot clear.
Dota2 takes another 14gb on average

Page file and hibernation takes up another 10gb

Which means on average, you will need a bare minimum of 64gb if
a. You swtiched off hibernation
b. You switched off page file

Then add in all the crap for your user directories ( unless you also offloaded this to somewhere else )

120 - 128gb is sufficient for now but you may want to take advantage of the Black Friday weekend sales to get a 512gb.

If not you might as well just install games on an HDD.

Going forward Windows updates will start to take up more space too. If you find a good deal on 500gb SSD, I suggest you buy it.

You can always clone the old drive to the new drive easily using cloning software. Afterwards just extend the additional space using Windows built in disk management tools.

The more Windows / Android / Mac tries to make things "easier" on the user, the less visible things become

Like on a phone:

"Cannot install app: Memory full"
*deletes 2GB of photos*
"Cannot install app: Memory full"

its windows being weird. my 128 gb ssd only had ~20gb left with only windows + dota 2 and turned off hibernation and page files

After the falls creator update i got back ~40gb and now have 60gb free.

Total installed program size 22.8gb means it actual size.
But if there are 10000+ files which are part of the installed program.
Each file will occupied in 1 block of 4Kb space used.
If a file is 4.1Kb in actual size it will occupy 8Kb space, meaning 2 blocks of 4Kb size of space used.

If you check the number of files it would be 10,000+ files.
Hence many small files with small size will take more space.
