If I use a PC mainly for office productivity and have a bad habit of re-saving a file (Word document or PowerPoint presentation) every now and then (every 5 to 10 minutes) while working on it.

Over time, will SSD or SSHD (hybrid hard drive) fail faster or performance degrade more due to fragmentation. Which one is more suitable for me given my usage pattern?

Unless your save files are 40gb big, and you're working 24hrs a day, you should worry about your storage medium be corrupted than worn out.

My Word/Excel documents are usually 100kb to 1mb in size.

PowerPoint maybe 2mb to 8mb?

SSD. Your ssd will be obsolete even before you have the chance to wear out the flash in your ssd to death.

SSHD adds another point of failure versus SSD in that it has a physical glass platter

SSD performance will degrade over time due to usage.
If you want INSURANCE on your files, go buy 2xHDD and go RAID1.

Smlj degrade & insurance, TS not doing VMs or writing 100GB/day :vijayadmin:

A samsung/intel/crucial ssd has more reliability than any platter hdd for such use cases, provided the hdd doesn't break by the time you bring it home from the shop
