I would like to get a new gaming laptop.. my current laptop is sony e series and its running on ATI graphics card.. (yes ATI before it got bought over by AMD). So after scrambling through some of the cheaper gaming laptop, im stuck between MSI GP60 2PE Leopard Pro and Asus G550jk. Any suggestion?

the comparison is not really apple to apple.
GeForce 840M is nowhere near GTX850M.
between this 2 asus win hands down no contest.

ohhh haha, because MSI is almost 500 dollars cheaper. How about comparison between asus g550jk and g56jr. I know that the g56jr comes with GTX760M but those are just alphabets and numbers to be as i dont know much about graphics card.

well..yeah... thats around how much the 2 graphic card cost difference will be :)
you can check this link for some comparison:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760M - NotebookCheck.net Tech

as you can see, playing Assassin´s Creed IV: Black Flag, GTX850 is 12% faster. however when playing GRID 2 GTX 850 is 23% faster.

if you ask me i will always buy the best card i can get with my budget. The reason is that its almost impossible to upgrade laptop graphic card. Might as well future proof it as best as I can so it can serve me longer.

one thing to take note, Asus GTX850 is a DDR3 version, not a DDR5, most benchmarks on website are using GTX850 DDR5. Thus give some discounts to the performance if the website is using a GTX850 DDR5 for benchmarks. :)

Agree. Apart from the ROG gaming laptop series, I believe all their dedicated GPUs should run with DDR3. Not sure how much they save here to be honest. :s22:

Perhaps it will be good to share your budget.
