Suggestion for some upgrades

Hi all, need some opinion/suggestion on what to upgrade.

I play FPS game only, FPS most important to me, i dont play game on high setting, lowest in fact, to get the most FPS, i have a 144hz monitor.

So far my rig is ok, playing overwatch only currently, lowest setting can net me 12x-14x FPS. But i want a more stable rig for future proof.

Any suggestion is welcome

CPU: i5-4430 3GHz
MB: ASROCK B85M-PRO4
RAM Kingston 1x8GB KVR16N11 (1600hmz i asssume)
GPU: AMD R9 280X
SSD: Plextor 128GB
HDD: WD 1TB Blue
PSU: FSP Raider 450W
OS: WIN 10

You upgrade GPU to at least 1060 3GB can liao.
You will get at least 50% more FPS.

Yes I am actually thinking of that too, am looking at the mini version cos cheaper lol

I also want to change GPU, MB, RAM and add 1 more SSD, my SSD 128GB really is not enough for future

Of cos all these from BF or Cyber Monday if all permits

Just up to gtx1070. Support 1080p 144hz better. The rest can remain for now. 1060 is pushing quite hard when you game at 144hz

Thank you for the comment, it seems 1070 is abit on the high side for me, however year end is near and bonus is coming i do not mind but i am looking at deals from bf or cyber monday.

....so u trying to change the whole pc

anyway MB u can try looking at IT gauge

ram now pricing too high, just find those 2nd hand seller.

ssd can consider Zotac T400/T500 or OCZ Trion 150. size up u wat to get.

i dont get the diff between 1060, 1060 mini, 1070, 1080.

1060 got 2 type. 3 and 6gb. 3gb have 90% of 6gb version in terms of performance. More vram allow more detail to be loaded and stored. Games like skyrim and fallout with mods would benefit here. 1060 can be said optimized for 1080p 60hz display.

1070 have about 15 to 25% better than 1060. 8gb vram same as 1080, lower Cuda core count compared to 1080 so lower performance of coz. By far best value for high end. Optimized for 1440p 60hz or 1080p 144hz (may need lower graphic a bit)

1080 is the best and current flagship (until the ti version is out) uses gddr5x (instead of gddr5 as the above 2) means bigger better faster. Meant for 4k 60hz, 1440p 144hz and gsync monitors. Can run almost anything above 60fps currently. Just a behind the Titan x. Haha

Mini version of any graphics means lesser boost performance (lower factory oc) and less efficient cooling. If you don't run your graphics to max or the game you play not very demanding, getting mini versions should be enough for you.

No issue at all. System will run at roughly 300W on full load. And GTX 1070 draws a whopping 50W less power than your current PSU.

Just go ahead with GPU and SSD upgrade will do.

if insufficient power sure cannot power up la. i dun think u need 500w la. that's recommended. u can always use those psu calculators online and find out.
