y not just buy when u get to japan instead of having the hassle of meeting up and getting from someone here.

the 500yen deposit in the card is refundable, it that is ur concern. or u can just keep the card for future trips

Card is valid for 10 years even if you don't use. Once you use, extended for another 10 years so I would keep it.

Buying the 2 or 3 day Metro pass from airport is considerably cheaper if you use the train a lot (not inclusive of JR). 2 day pass is 1200yen and 3 day pass 1500yen (if they haven't change. Wife just came back on 5th Apr and used it). I think the cheapest return trip on Metro is around 320 yen.
