Swapping of mobo and processor

Hi all

I want to upgrade just my mobo and processor.

i3 4150/asrock b85 killer to i7 4790/asrock z97 extreme6, the rest I use back current items. Do i need to reinstall window/drivers?

any additional things to look out?

BTW, why u wanna change to z97? U going for dual gpu?

And why need i7?

I hope you wun say its for 'future proofing'..

video encoding damn slow on i3. Might as well go for i7 for hyperthreading.

Video encoding dont really need till an i7. i5 can le. But if you really got money to spend then up to you.

Last recalled that you wanted the FD XL is because of 4 5.25inch bay? Was it you?

Lol, you can continue from that thread mah... No need create new 1 just because subject is different.

Since u need loads of HDD, den H97 will do bah. Unless u need more SATA than what H97 can offer to you...

It depends on what software you have in your com...

But, i think for those paid licenses, they may be tied to your old mobo. Best is to email them and ask if you change mobo, can the license be transfered?

h97/h87 also able to do raid 5

what i want is 4 x 4tb on raid
4 external hdd doing hotsway.
so z board seems to be the only choice.
unless something else is there
