Guys, i need help desperately :(

I was helping my grandpa to reformat his HP TouchSmart 520 All-in-One PC as he claimed that it was getting more and more laggy. Everything went fine until disaster struck - I ACCIDENTALLY SWITCHED OFF THE WRONG WALL OUTLET AND THE PC GOT TURNED OFF WHILE REFORMATTING WAS STILL IN PROCESS :s16::s16:

Now the pc won't turn on and i feel so bad for my grandpa, can all the kind souls tell me what exactly happened to the hard disk? Does it mean the hard disk is spoilt and no longer bootable? I have the recovery discs with me, please offer me some advices thank you very much!:(

I don't think your "reformatting" is what you think it means.

Power loss during reformat will not do anything. Also reformatting takes just a few seconds nowadays.

I was performing the factory reset and it definitely took more than a few seconds, are we talking about the same thing?

use another comp, go make a bootable usb drive with windows 7 or 10. put in the usb drive. then press F2 or Del repeatedly once you start your comp. should bring you to boot menu or bios for most computers. factory reset is not reformat.

If the recovery discs is bootable, just go to bios setting and set the cd as 1st bootable, put in the cd and restart your pc and just follow the instruction on the screen.

If the disc is not bootable, then you need a windows disc or bootable usb with win os to install the os and the recovery disk to install all the drivers.

Do you mean the screen is blank when you switch on the computer or that you are unable to boot into Windows?

thanks for the advice bro, problem is now the pc won't even turn on when i press the power on button, no hp logo no nothing.

regarding the bootable usb or disc, how do i get it as no disc was given at the time of purchase, we were told to burn the recovery disc on the very first time of booting up the pc.

Disconnect the A/C power cable from the all-in-one, wait 1 minute then reconnect it back to the system and try to power up the unit again.

Keep your finger crossed, the problem could be an auto shutdown protection circuit kicks in when you accidentally power off the unit.
