System is always lagging/ loading in windows 10

Hi there,

I have a slightly older specs system.

upgraded to windows 10, was working fine for awhile, but recently, after auto updates of some programs and windows itself, I turn on and it stays on my desktop and it is always showing the hourglass (loading), and not the pointer(ready).

I don't remember what exactly was the last I updated, it could have been Steam, Windows 10, or Origin.

specs are as below;

i7 870 (5yrs old)
Asus P7P55D LE (5yrs old)
Sapphire HD7950boost 3gb (3/4yrs old)
PC1333, 2 x 4gb ram (2yrs old)
Seasonic M12ii 620wSamsung 240gb SSD (2yrs old)

all was working fine, for quite awhile, until recent updates, about 1/2mths ago.

reason I didn't try to check earlier, system is at my dad's place, he uses it more, and he doesn't use it much. he thought it's normal.

I don't know what other information you guys might need. please let me know if you need anything else.

the thing is I on the system and wait for almost 30min, and it is still not "ready". how to disable the settings? is there anything I can do to the hardware to al least, access it?


sidenote:

any thoughts on the Samsung cf390 27"? saw it over the weekend and it looks very enticing at $368, or should wait for year end pc show (or something)?

Right click task bar and click task manager. Check your start up services and disable unnecessary stuff.

lol u are not alone, I also did experience slowness in win 10 as well, but still acceptable. just that I did everything I could but it's just keep loading.

You can consider dual boot with Win 7.

but tbh i did those fix way b4 windows 10, as mine is upgrade from win 7 > win 8 > win 8.1 > win 10. but still im not so sure of whats the actual causes.

I meant disable the softwares that you don't need to run on start up tab under task manager. Mine only has Dropbox and Realtek audio manager enabled.

Is your Samsung SSD 840 series? 840 has known reading issue.

not very sure which Samsung ssd I have, I wanted to try those things above, but I was left sitting there for 45min. and nothing happened for me to even attempt to do something to it...

i'll try again next week. and update back.
