Tainan or Hualien

Hi,

I am planning for a 8D7N trip to taiwan. Mainly will be staying at taipei but will be either going to hualien or tainan, either staying there for a nite..

1) can give a comment on what is noteworthy at there two places
2) can recommend on hotel to stay (assume no transport)

depends what u prefer, nature or historical stuff and good food.

then it is easy to go takoro gorge from hua lien

Go to Hualien, can do water tracing there quite interesting

as a previous poster mentioned, can go to taroko national park from there as well. picturesque place worth spending a few days if you like nature and hiking.
