Taipei trip help!!!

I am going for a 7d 6n free and easy holiday in Taipei in October. I will be traveling with my wife and a friend. Hence looking at staying those Airbnb accommodation. I need to book soon, but I was thinking if I want to travel out of taipei for one day?

Can any kind souls here tell me where I can go nearby enough and easy to reach from Taipei? We are not really those scenery type of people, probably just looking for a different kind of night market. That said easy to go back to Taipei.

Morning: jiufen
Noon: QingTong, ShiFen, PingXi
Night: KeeLung MiaoKou NM

I would recommend you to book a cab, if you have 3 person or more.
Coz if you take Taipei main station to Ruifang to Jiufen => Already 90 minutes
Then Jiufen to Shifen => Already one hour, excluding waiting train time
Then Shifen to Taipei Main Station => 90 min lol ...

Travelling time can already take up around 4 hours
Only these 2 places

Shops at Jiufen start business around 12noon so no point going in the morning...

Anyway, scenery from the train is not the same as scenery from the street in a cab..

It's enough for Jinguashi>Jiufen>Shifen>Keelung all by public anyway..

Anyone can advise if there is better alternative to Kao shiung from tao Yun airport?? Cause I be arriving taoyun airport like 5am in the morning.

So far I may be taking bus and railway which is 4hours to my Hostel..

hee tried that last nov taipei, went out 9am take train to ruifang, then reached back tms is around 8pm+ liao ... Coz travelling time about 4-5 hrs liao ...

You give me the impression that you don't know the geographical position of Taipei and Kaohsiung.

The hostel you have booked is in Kaohsiung? That's how I interpreted from your post. If you think it's too far, why don't you just stay in Taipei or fly into Kaohsiung instead?

Taipei to kao shiung, can take hsr which will take 2hrs plus, or you can take a domestic flight lol ... Took before sin to taipei by eva, then taipei to kao shiung airport via china airline ... One hour journey ...

There's no longer direct flights between taipei and Kaohsiung.

Skyscanner and CI website doesn't show when I tried to make a reservation. And I remember in 2012, CI stopped the Taipei to Kaohsiung flights.

The hostel you have booked is in Kaohsiung? That's how I interpreted from your post. If you think it's too far, why don't you just stay in Taipei or fly into Kaohsiung instead?

SG to Taipei is much cheaper than direct to Kaohsiung, even after including the HSR 2 way fees.

Flights to Kaohsiung are not cheap, the cheap ones usually stopover at hong kong.

Take shuttle bus from airport to Tao yuan HSR station.

Then take the earliest HSR to Kaohsiung HSR.

All in all around 2 hours of travel time. Reach Kaohsiung HSR around 8.30am

There is a free bus service for the route to Feng jia night market.
