Taiwan Itinery Help!

Hi all!

Was wondering if this itinery will make sense or will work out! Would really appreciate some advise!!!

Day 1:
- Lover’s Bridge
- Fisherman’s Wharf
- Yang Ming shan National Park/Mt Elephant
Day 2:
- Taipei 101
- Déjà vu Restaurant
- Wu Fen Pu
- XimenDing
- Shihlin Night Market
Day 3:
- Yehliu GeoPark
- Nanya Rock Formation
- Yin Yang Sea
- Golden Waterfall
- Jiufen
- Shifen
Day 4:
- Yilan Hot Spring
- Chin Sui Park
- White Rice clo gs village
Day 5:
- Taroka Gorge
- East Rift Valley
- Sun Moon Lake
- Marble Factory

Day 1:
Should be YMS in the morning followed by Danshui Old Street in the noon then Fishermans Wharf + Lovers Bridge and drop by Shilin on the way back. No time for Elephant Hill.YMS itself is going to take like 3hrs to half a day.

Day 2:
Okay but shops usually start business around 11-12noon.

Day 3:
Not feasible unless u book a driver. Even with a driver, this would be rush

Day 4:
Seems okay

Day 5:
Have you check the distance between Tarako and SML? At most half day taroko + east rift by driver.

Appreciate your quick reply Is Day 3 really not feasible at all?? Because i saw it happen at one of the blogs...If we ate on the go snacks still not feasible? How much does booking a driver cost???

And for Day 5, Yes i did...But i couldn't really see how to fit in SML and Taroke elsewhere, both seem really good to visit. Any suggestions??

Day 3 no..Not encourage by public transport..

Bus from nearby Taipei Main Station to Yehliu is a good 1hr 30mins(Bus). You probably need 2hrs for Yehliu itself. Yehliu to Ying Yang Sea is a good 40mins drive(Car, not bus)..Another 10mins to Nanya..

Nanya to Jiufen is about 20mins drive.Jiufen bus down to Ruifang is 15-20mins by bus. Train from Ruifang to Shifen is 1 train every hour.

Not taking into consideration of the time spend in each location.If want touch and go, i would suggest save the trouble and skip the places..Alternatively, Yehliu>Jiufen>Shifen>1 night market somewhere..Yehliu to Jiufen by bus is a good 2hrs odd.If not wrong, there's a bus tour for the ying yang sea, nanya segment.

SML to Taroko or vice versa is a good 4+ hrs drive away..You cant do both..Suggest u do a nice 8hrs Taroko Gorge tour..Best by drive as well..

Another way is head out of Taipei the day you arrive if you have the intention of doing so later during the trip. But this works only if your flight lands early in the morning.

Was thinking of that too! But it doesn't really make a difference whether we move out first or go around in first...Maybe only push factor is NYE to be back in Taipei that's all! Thinking of going Mt Elephant for it tho. Read it has a good view Many thanks for your help! I've emailed the original person about the YehLiu day which she managed to squeeze everything tho.

Any idea the opening times for those? Say even if we leave really early? I'm more of one who prefers the scenary rather then the night markets (just going NM for the experience hence one or two),so i'm really more keen on the places above! Esp after seeing the photos

If Day 6 is the day which you would be departing from Taoyuan Airport, that would make a difference. And also most shopping is done in Taipei so no point carrying those stuff to Hualien before going back to Taoyuan.

How many days are you going?? And also since going in Dec period, better finalise and book your hotels now..Popular hotels are likely to be gone already..

That's true. Didn't think of that I'm thinking of going from 26 Dec to 2nd Jan. Yea ikr. Prob gonna book hotels and stuff latest by tmr or the day after.

Forgot to ask any idea if any of the places listed require tickets/tour guide to enter? Because i understand from some other countries you need a tour guide in order to enter certain places (e.g. europe)

Blogger did the Yehliu day..

Today's itinerary is all along the north coast of Taiwan where many national scenic areas are. We booked this local cab uncle for today. Highly recommended from HWZ forum. One full day (8 hours) for TWD3,700. If you are travelling in a group of 4 people and above, booking a cab is relatively cheaper,more convenient to travel around and more time saving.

With a cab it's feasible, just that you would miss out the sights from a TRA train..

Taroko is recommended with a driver as they would act as the guide as well. Local so can bring you to places they know and not those from the general tour bus route.

Yehliu need to buy tickets to enter.The rest is FOC..
