Hi all

have a question regarding utilities (electricity & water) ownership transfer when taking over a resale private property - is it better to have the name transfer from previous owner or a new registration? Heard the former is cheaper...any experience sharing? Thanks.

Ownership transfer will be cheaper and more convenient as there will be no disruption of supply.

Yes. Transfer ownership is faster and better. Just talk to the present owner on the date/month of transfer.

No need to talk to present owner. Just call SP Services and tell them the date of transfer.

I wonder what will happen if there is any outstanding payment just before the transfer.

Transfer need existing customer sign. Troublesome.
Better to hv utilities on before actual completion date. Got lights n water to test the appliances

I thought without transfer the utilities will be cut off and one needs to apply for them to come and set up which could cause inconvenience for the first few days or week.

A transfer seems clean for me as one can specify the date of handover exactly. But not sure how to go about without filling up that form.

Wrote SP an email and would be grateful if anyone can share experience. Thanks

Anyone know for transfer of account, me (as current owner) will be able to get back the deposit from SP - just rcd a sms that say the buyer has request to take over the account? Then will I need to still go to the SP app to terminate the account?
