While Taobao lights are cheap, any idea if Taobao lights are safe in terms of fire hazards? Can share if there is anything I should take note of when buying lights from Taobao?
Been using it since 5 years back. So far no problem. While Taobao lights are cheap, any idea if Taobao lights are safe in terms of fire hazards? Can share if there is anything I should take note of when buying lights from Taobao?

How about instances where lights purchased locally do not have safety cert or sticker?ID told me insurance will not cover taobao lights if house kana burn down by light not cert in sg.
so its the pro and con. cheap bulbs vs bulb with safety cert

Or in cases of severe fire, practically most/all the lights are badly burnt that those cert or sticker are not recognizable?
How often do we have incidences of fire breaking out in homes due to 'cheap' lights or electrical devices?
If such cheaper products are more prone to causing fire, other countries that have many households using such 'cheap' devices should rightfully see higher incidences of fire?
In my opinion good user habits are more important that that certificate or sticker, a reckless user is not going to be protected by that sticker, it's not an amulet too
user habits and many other variables play a critical part when it comes to safety, more so than a certificate/sticker for sure...just like how tendency of e-bikes fire can be reduced by taking safety precautions - e.g charging at well ventilated area, charging when there is someone at home etcuser habits cannot control the product's company manufacturing quality. if the product has flaw, user habit good also cannot safe the user. example phone's battery caught fire.
But as mention, local cert mean if unlucky, bad stuff happens, insurance can cover.
but no one is stop another for owners from buying bulb online or oversea. lol.
Do you have this as term and condition in your insurance? Show us!taobao lights no sg safety cert, can't claim insurance
philips, osram etc only sells very common lights
if you want fancy design with safety mark, need to buy from legit designer lightings from shops like Million Lighting but it'll cost a fortune
safety wise i think taobao light still okay, haven't read news saying house caught fire cause of taobao light
In fact they are coming from same factory.most of the local shop selling lighting fittings identical to Taobao
One good example is the recent fridge case at 1 condos. Brand is Electrolux, safety logo by Singapore. Still burnt anyway. How about instances where lights purchased locally do not have safety cert or sticker?

That's right. Most of the time fire occur is the owner misused the product or non compliant installation.
