3rd Gen Ryzen really made a huge leap for price to spec.

AMD is still unstable as $h!+.

Yesterday build Chromium and Firefox on the Threadripper got >18 segfaults.

Never ever happened on Intel hardware.

Next upgrade going back to Intel. Much more reliable.

Interesting. Zero errors on all the TR workstations in my office. We went all TR, Rock stable.

I m using Brave now , i find it most smooth on AMD leh . For intel i use chrome is fine

What flags are you using? So far, TR has been rock solid, faster than Intel, using less power than Intel. Seems like a user error to me, or just looking for an excuse to go back to wasting time and money on Intel.

Default flags with -fPIC. GCC and Clang.

I have been doing code builds for 5 years, I know what I'm passing to my compiler.

Every large code build I have been doing since the day of the Threadripper purchase till now always segfaults during the build process. ******* huge waste of time to have to restart a build.

Next time I rather pay the premium for Intel and never get these ridiculous segfaults. save a hell lot more time in the process.

Not about stronger. This is not entirely AMD issue. Is the compiler not genuinely optimized for AMD as ryzen and TR chips using chiplet design. Wait until Intel use same design then all these suddenly iron out flat. Same like when AMD adopts dual core last time.

I use Athlon64 x2 back then can't launch 中文之星due to dual core config.

Ignorant people should keep their uninformed opinions to themselves. GCC and Clang have Zen optimizations for close to a year already and Zen2 optimizations are being worked on daily by upstream.

Only an idiot compiles binaries with those processor-specific optimizations, especially when they are to be distributed to different computers running on different hardware bases. Even Visual Studio does not enable processor optimzations out of the box.
