Some shopping mall along Orchard Road… inside empty… Concorde hotel… a lot of retailer is Kang Kang… don’t even make money… how to have money for decorations…

I have a simple reason for poor businesses… we are getting expensive

Nowadays who will come sg to shop? I don't even go Hongkong now. Used to go once every few years to shop and look for pc stuffs back in late 90s and 2000s. Now can buy online, delivered straight to my door.

Back to sg, other than expensive, tourist come also see a rojak country with all the economic refugees. Take mrt also packed.

but 1 thing for sure, many are opting to travel for xmas/new year now.

No one in their right mind will and should come to SG.

Firstly our weather is absolutely terrible. It's either scorching burning hot or raining heavily, either which makes traveling around the island very inconvenient.

SG hotels is crazily expensive. 1 night at a 5-star hotel in SG I can stay 1 week in other cities. Even Tokyo downtown hotels are cheaper than SG now. The hotel rates in SG is really crazy high

SG has no scenery at all! Everything is fake and man-make. Come here see what? Fake waterfall or fake domed garden? Even Thailand & Vietnam have more attractions than SG

Alcohol in SG is also crazily expensive. 1 tiny glass of cocktail is ard $25-30 on average now. Plus 20% taxes. I drink in Ginza which is the most expensive district in Tokyo is also 30-40% cheaper than SG now.

I always tell any foreign friend pls dun ever come to SG. It's one of the most expensive sheet hole in the world now and is also extremely hot, crowded & small.

Those who come here will stay in their relative house.

Went there last Saturday cum walking...Orchard still very crowded.
But really nothing to see....

I was in Oita this autumn, literally 10 times smaller than Singapore in terms of population and density, but the Christmas vibe was 10 times better. There's very little culture to be had in a country that doesn't value it.

most people spend on food
retail spending is definitely down - very few people carrying shopping bags inside malls compared to last time

If you are a sinkie you will know Dec is usually quiet.

Fake talents all balik kampong.

Sinkies clear leave/ school holidays and are travelling.

Wet season so not much activities/ events.

New Year countdown is 60% bangalas and maids.

Lastly, for hotels, Dec month usually sees the lowest occupancy rate, averaging around 75% and about 10% lower than average of the rest of year, and could be lower nowadays with the increase in the number of hotels.

Even hotel staffs clear leave in Dec.

My time in semicon, lots of tiongs with PhD. They told me their cert mot recognised here, so just use their degree to apply to study Masters, then use that Masters cert as recognition. Most did it at NTU.
