Thailand economy will eventually be overtaken by Vietnam. Nobody in ASEAN can catch Indonesia though, due to sheer disparity in land size, natural resources and population size.
Agreed. The Vietnamese economy will surpass SG in 5 years' time. Unlike the Thais which are more culturally heterogeneous, the Vietnamese have a smaller cultural gap amongst themselves, more mafiaistic, daring, pushy.
Many years ago, in a meeting, the late Mr Lee argued for opening to Thai workers first. Partly SG and Thais have closer relations. Another is that he assessed Singaporeans are no equal match in dealing with Vietnamese.
Eventually, Indonesia will attain the largest economy, in view of its size.
