Tiger broker Cash Boost - need help

Hi,
I recently activated my Cash Boost with Tiger Broker and somehow received a notification that my account has been linked to another person, who seems to be a broker.

i have not assigned anyone and did not indicate any referral.

Tiger CS replied it was an error and delink my account.

1. Anyone has similar experience?
2. What should I do next?

Sidetrack a bit. You do know Cash Boost is meant for contra trading correct? Buying shares without upfront capital is good but come with risk.

Yes I am aware. Isn’t Cash Boost use for trading with CPF and SRS accounts too?

importantly, anyone with simi situation and can advise what should I do next? I will de-register this account first, in case they did not do what they say and kept my account linked to this named broker.

Yes, you need Cash Boost account to trade with CPF and SRS. You did not provide enough specifics. Who is this broker that was linked to your account? What was the exact wording? I think yours is an exceptional case. If you are worried, you can probably close the Cash Boost account. There are many brokers that can trade with CPF and SRS.

I do not wish to disclose his name, but have googled him. He conducted investment courses in skillsfuture and posted several YouTube videos on investmen. I am very surprised that Tiger linked my account to him.

Oh, it sounds like you are talking about Investment Rep. That is just a person hired to build client relationship — be a contact point with regards to trading with Tiger and some provide market updates. It is harmless. You probably attended some Tiger event and scanned his QR code or perhaps Tiger assigned one to you, a bit like DBS assigns Wealth Managers to its clients? I don’t think it is related to your activation of Cash Boost. He can’t do anything to your account or do trades for you. Investment Reps have to pass some CMFAS exams and they get a very small commission when their clients execute trades (you don’t pay anything extra). If he has been delinked (you don’t see him as your rep), your account is fine as it is.

Maybe the staff mistakenly linked your account while handling requests from other Tiger users who want to change their rep.

Actually what is the outcome you are looking at?

If you have concern about why this even happened in the first place and shouldn’t be, just report to MAS?

like you are trying to crowd source ideas of why it happened? Its all just speculations no?

I’m not suggesting any negativity.

I’m saying this appears to be quite an egregious error that they link people to the wrong account, with all the implications you can think of.

It depends on what you want to resolved.

they have already reversed the error already right.

so the error no longer continue.

but is that sufficient of a resolution for you? Or do you want to pursue further?

if you want to pursue as to how did this error even come about in the first place.

You can of course demand a formal investigation by tiger to provide you with an explanation.

failing which, report to the regulator.

so what are you trying to resolved in case I missed your point?
