When are you going? I am also trying to alternate mine haiz....

I've managed to get availability on Shirakawa-go no yu which is not a farm house on the 26th of December. the farm houses are all booked.

had the same problem, they told me to try in August. Earlier this week we tried and its already fully booked.

I booked ryokan hoshi (it's 1300 years old) at nearby kaga onsen

Slight change to the plan. The wife's friend offered to let us stay at her home so we decided to take up her offer (save hotel $$).

She stayed in Nonoichi but it is only 15 mins train ride away from Kanazawa. Hopefully she can also help to bring us around (nothing beats having a local to show you the sights).
