Hi guys. Couldn't find a dedicated thread on this router so I thought I will just post a new thread.

I recently bought this router on the cheap to upgrade as I got a WC 10gb plan.

I reset the router twice already. But when I went into the firmware settings and in the wireless settings, I couldn't save any changes to the settings.

I am already on the latest firmware version with no more updates.

Anyone here who has this router faces this issue? I am only using the web browser to access the settings and not using their tether app.

Furthermore, the first 5ghz band indicates on my phone that it's a 2.4ghz band. I cannot find the 2.4ghz band settings in the firmware page to edit the settings. Not sure if I am making any sense here.

There is a TP-Link WiFi 6E and WiFi 7 router thread.

If you have carried out Factory Reset and the issue is still there, then the router is likely spoiled.

If it is still under warranty, contact TP-Link Singapore for help.

As for the first SSID, by default it will be a 2.4GHz/5GHz combined SSID, if your router is still working , then you can change the settings to separate the two bands and use different SSID.

Thanks xiaofan as always.

The router is working fine as I tested the network speeds and such. All good.

That's the thing. During the initial setup phase, I specifically disabled smart control and separate the 2 SSID. But when I checked the wifi on my phone, I could only find 3 SSID.

5ghz 1
5ghz 2
6ghz

I checked the 5ghz 1 band on my phone and it's only a 2.4ghz band. Which is weird. This means that the first 5ghz band is missing. And the 2.4ghz band is label wrongly.

When I tried to change any wireless settings within the firmware, it refuses to save.

My firmware is 1.0.11 build 20241115 rev 76431. If that helps in anything.

Your issue is indeed very weird.

Maybe you want to post the screenshot of the wireless settings page to see if there is something strange or not.

Other than the phone, any other devices have problems?

BTW, from the internet feedbacks, Archer AXE300 seems to have very good HW spec but the firmware seems to be problematic.

Reviews of the quad-band Archer BE900 is also not positive. Probably TP-Link still has some work to do on the top end quad band consumer wireless routers.

Thank you so much.

Oh ok that's sad to hear. Is because I heard great reviews on this router that's why I decided to try this out. Such a bummer if the firmware is this buggy.

Let me get home and post some screenshots on my problems tonight. I was hoping that someone is facing this problems too or it's just my router that is bugging out. 😭

Also I have another problem.

I don't see the OFDMA and MU MIMO option in the firmware too.

Is it enabled by default and no access to options?

From the screenshot from MyRepublic website, it should have this option.

Are your Archer AXE300 local set?

Maybe can try "downgrading" the firmware. If there are such options. Not sure if there is also a "recovery mode" option which allows for manual firmware recovery flash too. You should check it out.

If all fails, you either return it to the seller, send it to TP-link for RMA (if still any), or bin it.

I sold a similar router when I upgraded to MR 10G last year Jan. The buyer kept experiencing random disconnect and bugs over the week so I eventually gave him a refund, also to stop his constant "bugging" me. Eventually managed to sell to someone who gave me peace.

Got chance to reflash?
Cannot save is weird.
Try using another browser

To be honest, other than this bugs, I an quite liking this router and don't wish to ask for refund. But I am indeed a bit disappointed that such a high end expensive router have such problems.

I just need to be able to change and save some settings, expose all 4 bands separately so that I can link individual devices to which band I want, and I am good to go to forget about it for the next few years without touching it anymore.

I can definitely still use the router as it is with no network problems though it's definitely not ideal cos I like to like certain devices to link to 2.4ghz only and some to 6ghz only.

Anyway I contacted TP-Link chat service. Hopefully they will be able to help me with this very weird bugs.

It is actually pretty common or not that hard (not because you are suay) for firmware corruption during upgrade these days. Especially with the increasing poor quality onboard memory used on AIO routers, more power-hungry design, sub-standard power brick, poorly insulated PCBs, much larger firmware file size as compared to the past and poorly optimised firmware upgrade process without proper SW safeguards in place.

Normally, it could be easily solved through recovery flash or changing the power brick during reflash.

Anyway, wait for TP-Link to reply to you. Last resort, try a reflash or recovery flash.

Anyway just an update

Went to convergent to RMA and they gave me the BE805 instead.

Is this similar to the Archer AXE300?

I tend to think it is a good one, worth slightly lower than S$300 (BNIB in Carousell). It has dual 10G ports and 6GHz band (triband WiFi BE19000).

FYI, I bought the Archer BE805 at S$300 from an M1 user in January 2025.
