I'm currently on SingNet ADSL and I know that it uses a transparent proxy which may cause problems with certain websites... To get around this I usually use proxy.singnet.com.sg which fixes the IP address.

So I was wondering a few things:

1) For fibre broadband, which ISPs do not have transparent proxies?

2) For SingNet, I understand fibre still has transparent proxy, but does the proxy.singnet.com.sg trick still work?

3) For StarHub, I heard proxy.starhub.net.sg does not work on their fibre connection? In that case, is there any way out? Or have to use your own VPN?

Thank you! :)

Singtel Fibre still using Transparent Proxy provided by F5 Networks BigIP for all the MDA filtering etc.

StarHub Mobile Broadband with "shinternet APN" does not have transparent proxy aka MDA filter.

Business Plans do not have transparent proxy.

Thank you. For SingTel Fibre, can I confirm that I can still use proxy.singnet.com.sg to give me a fixed IP address? Whereas for StarHub's normal fibre broadband there's no way of getting a fixed IP right?

First time I've ever heard of someone looking for a provider WITH transparent proxy.

Of course not having a transparent proxy is best but it seems the big 2 have transparent proxies. Due to contract reasons and bundling of svcs would prefer to stick with these two though I know others could be better. So far I've been coping fine with transparent proxy as long as the proxy IP does not change every second. So I was wondering whether for Starhub fibre are you routed to a different transparent proxy each time or do the proxies have the same IP address? Thank you.

Base on what I notice is that now singtel transparent proxy is no longer using the shared IP.

On fibre it is direct connection after going through the F5-BigIP filter.

Real IP is being reflected.

U can try whatismyproxy.com to see if ADSL is still using proxy. On fibre it is not detected.

Mine is 100Mbit plan @ 200Mbit speed.
duuno is free upgrade or they activate wrongly on the system.
Also my IP like static IP like that 6 months liao IP still the same.

Recently their system upgrade then all the crappy things start to happen.

Thanks! I'm currently using ADSL and it shows this:

y6t20Mc.png

It shows my real IP as well as the proxy IP that changes every request, which unfortunately download sites usually rely on...

Do you mean that the proxy IP is not shown at all for you? Thanks a lot :)

Mine no NetScalar transparent proxy.
Maybe Fibre uses F5 Network Big-IP and ADSL uses old NetScalar transparent proxy.

Wow. Sounds great to me :)

By the way, if you have the time, could you help me test this:

http://hugefiles.net/qrlsn1r2293e (It's just an empty ZIP file that I uploaded)

Enter the CAPTCHA and click the Download button right below the Captcha. Then on the next page, unselect the download accelerator checkbox and click "Create download link".

For me, I get a "Wrong IP" error which I believe is due to the NetScalar transparent proxy. Just curious if you get any error or you are able to download the file?

Thanks a lot :)

You are buying the vpn right? If you are not buying the vpn and it just pop up by itself then something is not right. May be Spyware on the site.

Yup, that one is just Google AdSense ads...

Thanks a lot for helping me test it out! Seems like when I upgrade to fibre my IP issues will be solved :)
