Unable to boot, help :(

Hand itchy, take out everything to re-do cable management.

Everything was working fine prior to dis assembly. Did not touch CPU cooler mount and motherboard mounting on the casing.

when finish assembly, try to boot, see error code post code 2E stuck for very long which is memory initialisation phase. Sometimes computer restarts by itself and goes back into 2E.

DRAM Led is on.

tried pressing go button / mem ok button to no avail.

now everything stripped and placed on a wooden box. Left mobo + ram + cpu + cpu cooler + mobo + cpu power. Still can't boot past 2E.

out of ideas, hoping someone here can help.

Could be some dust fall into the mobo ram slots or the ram gold contact have some dust. Just use a soft brush and brush the slots and soft eraser to the gold contact of the ram.

Keep swapping the ram around until something works.

Remove your CMOS battery to reset the bios to factory setting. Don't install the GPU use IGP. Now you left your M/B, CPU and RAM to troubleshoot.

Yeah.. I unmounted the mobo, placed it on top of a cupboard box. Now only motherboard, rams and cpu inside alongside with the require power pins.

Tried permutations of my rams for the ram slots. E.g remove one ram, try for all 4 slots. Swop to the other ram again and try for all 4 slots one at a time.

Tried clear cmos button and reseating cmos battery to hard reset cmos to no avail.

What is troubling me is that everything was fine before I took it apart.

Got no spare ddr3 around to test if it is really the dram issue or somehow I shorted my mobo upon disassembly.

What do you guys think?

Clean the memory module gold edge with eraser on both sides.

yeah made sure got click and use eraser to rub down the gold connection of the rams.

im using i7 2600k, with asus genez mobo and 2 x ripjaw rams, don't have exact ram model now as i'm outside.

something similar happened to mine system last week.
my hyper 212 was rusting and i changed out the cooler and took the fans out to clean.
system could not post. no beep sound. but DRAM light was lit.

what i did was, like previous posts, said, to have only the CPU and ram to post. i pressed the mem ok button for a few seconds, and post with only one memory stick at A2 slot. It did not work. So i repeated using the same stick on B2 slot. And for reasons unknown. It work. Then i added back two sticks to A2 & B2 and no problem. And i pushed the ram damn hard into the slot. I believe its the slots not able to read the ram. my 2 cents.

If you took out the sata cables, then maybe also check the one to the boot drive. Have only the bootable drive in the system. and disconnect the rest.

forgot to add. Pl remember to plug in the 8-pin power cable to the mobo and make sure it is pushed all the way in.

btw, are your fans spinning?
