UniSIM (SIM Unversity) is officially the 6th national or local university endorsed by the Singapore government, with subsidised tuition fees for its students, which are publicly funded.
Somemore, Singapore's 3rd Law School will also be hosted by UniSIM.

However, there seems to be many people in Singapore who always mistake UniSIM or associate it with SIM Global Education's partner universities.

Why is this so ? Not enough marketing?

I believe because the name SIM-GE is more widely known?

When people talk about SIM, their minds automatically think of the distance-learning degrees

well keep looking, have you look at jobs in the public sector ?
that's why i feel is no point taking honors especially if is from unisim.
the dean paints a beautiful picture so i only take his words with a pinch of salt. :s13:

going to grad soon, might not even get to change to another industry.
perhaps will stay on in my current company, since already getting basic degree pay.

Well, it seems the only way for UniSIM to be better known is through more aggressive publicity, outreach and marketing campaigns. Just like not too long ago, SMU was often mistaken for SIM...LOL.
But SMU is now a niche brand in the local university arena.

Maybe, when the 3rd Law School kicks in, UniSIM will also become more well-known.

compare apple to apple and don't build sandcastles in the air just yet.
it took SMU a lot of years to reach the prestige it has today and likewise unisim need even more years to reach the milestone.
maybe in 50 years time :s13:

study in unisim only if you're interested in learning else just thinking about the HR impressions will get you nowhere.

actually some of the marketing ideas are provided by current batch part time students in their assignments whenever the sch lacks any ideas to create awareness especially in open house, the scenario will be presented as part of the student assignment such as MKT 201.

SIT do more internal marketing such as in their respective poly branches.

More can be done and more should be done to quickly elevate the reputation of UniSIM if it is to be on par with the other local universities.
Outreach and marketing campaigns should be "fast and furious"...and the govt and Ministry of Education could play a greater and more consistent role in advocating it as a university of excellence.

face palm, i would rather the govt conserve more budget for social security net especially for the elderly.
the overemphasis on education is just making the industry more obsessed with budget and funds.
if you want good education, enter local uni instead.

likewise try not to stir any crap here, else i will report this thread.
if you're not a unisim student/employee, then it means that you just have other agenda.

Isn't UniSIM a local university?
Btw, this is an open discussion and NOT crap. Please be more open and sensible. Thanks.
