I am offered a place in NUS and I am supposed to matriculate in the year that I apply. However, can I request to defer my studies? And would NUS be able to reserve the place for me?
Places will ONLY be reserved for applicants serving full-time National Service (NS) in Singapore as they are required to complete their NS liability before pursuing tertiary education. However, for extenuating circumstances such as a medical condition that prevents the successful applicant from enrolling with us, the applicant should submit an appeal to the Office of Admissions for consideration.
While the University does not usually grant deferment for matriculating freshmen, there is a system of Leave of Absence in place that the University administers for students who would like to take a term off for various reasons. Details are provided in
NUS - National University of Singapore, Registrar's Office.
